Less than 24h till WOC 2009 – all the info you need (+ downloadable cheatsheet)
August 15, 2009 by Niels-Peter Foppen
Less than 24 hours left till the very first start of the World Orienteering Championships 2009, this year to be held in Miskolc – Hungary. Miskolc, situated in the North-East of Hungary, is – behind Budapest and Debrecen – the third-largest city of the country. Eight years ago Miskolc was the centre of orienteering’s World Championships too, for the juniors though. Many of today’s elite orienteers who will participate in WOC 2009 will indeed return to the city they have fought in for medals years back too.
The terrain for all competitions, except for the long distance final and the sprint, is described as non-typical karst with a small number of negative features and many point objects. The competitors can expect physically tough conditions since the terrain is quite hilly. The long distance terrain will be the most special terrain containing many negative features and Many stones, extensive rocky or stony areas in places.
Be optimal prepared

Below Ultimate Orienteering gives you a complete overview of everything you need to know about the World Championships. Besides we have made you a special “cheatsheet” with the competition program and course information. Print the pdf and keep it next to your computer!
